Zumba Gold

Zumba Gold is a senior-friendly version of the popular Latin-inspired fitness dance workout. This very popular class is ideal for beginners and those who want an effective – and fun! – lower intensity, low impact workout.

Senior Barre

Class Dates/Times: Tuesdays 12:30 p.m.

Class Fee: $6 Kane Members/ $7 Kane Club & Non-Members

Senior Barre and Fitness mixes elements of Pilates, Dance, Yoga and Functional Training. The small, super-controlled movements that take place in barre class decrease pressure on your joints, tendons, ligaments and spine by improving core strength and posture. No experience is required. After every class, you will feel stretched, strengthened and invigorated.

Senior Fitness

Class Dates/Times: Mondays 12:30-1:30 p.m., Thursdays 1-2 p.m.

Class Fee: $6 Kane Members/ $7 Kane Club & Non-Members

This program is designed to help those 55 and beter live healthy, active lifestyles while getting fit, having fun and making friends. The class emphasizes muscle range of motion, flexibility and coordination.

Each class alternates between Zumba, Senior Barre and Toning & Stretching. Show up to find out which one. Each class is different!

Tai Chi for Balance

Instructor: Grace Coffey

Class Dates/Times: Thursdays 10:15-11:15 a.m.

Class Fee: $8 Kane Members/ $10 Kane Club & Non-Members

Tai Chi is enjoyable, easy to learn and provides many health benefits. It is often described as “meditation in motion,” but it might well be called “medication in motion.” The program is a safe and effective system that enhances strength and flexibility, while reducing joint pain and stress. Qigong coordinates body posture and movement, breathing and meditation used for health and relaxation.

Chair Yoga

Instructor: Grace Coffey

Class Dates/Times: Mondays 10:30-11:15 a.m., Thursdays 11:30-12:15 a.m.

Class Fee: $8 Kane Members/ $10 Kane Club & Non-Members

Chair Yoga introduces participants to health-enhancing yoga postures, breathing techniques and meditation in a fun, nurturing and safe environment. It has been described as providing “physical lightness, mental calmness and emotional tranquility.” Students can choose to use either mats or chairs. The class, which is appropriate for all levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced), allows students to work according to their own flexibility and strength.
